SACHSENHAUSEN. This popular museum, located in a beautiful 19th century country manor house, traces the growth and development of Germany from the earliest settlements to today's modern cities and towns. Galleries highlight the evolution of design, and exhibits include drawings, scale models, photographs and unique displays.

SACHSENHAUSEN. Considered by many film historians and movie buffs to be the finest film museum in the region, this cultural venue shows an array of classic films, and displays include Edison's 1889 Kinetoscope and a copy of the Lumière brothers' 1895 film work. Other exhibits chronicle the development of a film studio and the process of making a film from the planning stage to the wrap session. Interesting and enlightening.

CITY CENTER. The Dommuseum opened in 1987 in the cloisters of the beautiful Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. Exhibits provide insight into the cathedral's history and influence, and give visitors a rare glimpse of church treasures. Highlights include the grave of a 7th century Moravian girl, silver and gold altar utensils and vestments.

NORTH FRANKFURT. Money, money, money! The lengthy history of money and current trends in economics are the focus of this surprisingly engaging museum. A massive collection of coins and paper money from ancient times to the present is on display, and there are a wide range of interactive exhibits to keep bored kids interested. There are also some well-made films that help put money and economics into perspective.

CITY CENTER. This 18th century home of the famed German writer and philosopher has been accurately restored to its original state. Interesting and informative, the home has become a shrine for Goethe fans. View the home with its lovely art collection and original pieces of memorabilia.
